Why am I now getting any data in my project?

Common reasons your project may show no results - and what to do about it

Written by Urszula Kucińska

You've set up your project, added prompts, and hit Save & Launch - but the dashboard shows no data. Don't worry, this is usually easy to diagnose. Here are the three most common reasons and how to fix each one.

Reason 1: Your Project Is Still Collecting Data

After launching a new project, Chatbeat needs a moment to query all AI models and process the results. During this time, you'll see the dashboard in a loading state - charts will be empty and prompt positions will show as placeholder tiles.

What to do: Simply wait a few minutes. Data will start appearing as each AI model responds. If the project has many prompts, it may take a bit longer. Come back shortly and your results should be populating.

Reason 2: Your Prompts Don't Trigger Brand Recommendations

This is a common and often overlooked issue. Some prompts are phrased in a way that AI models answer with general information rather than recommending or mentioning specific brands. If none of the AI models name any brands in their responses, Chatbeat won't have any position data to display.

For example, a prompt like "Do people mention my brand?" is likely to produce a general explanation of how brand mentions work - without actually listing any specific tools or companies.

How to check: Click the three-dot menu (⋯) next to any prompt in your Key prompts table, then select View details.

Navigate to the Explore AI Answers tab and select a date to see the raw responses from each AI model.

Here you can read exactly what each model responded. If the answers are purely informational and don't mention any brands, that's why no data is being collected.

What to do: Rephrase your prompts to naturally encourage brand recommendations. Instead of "Do people mention my brand?", try something like "What are the best brand monitoring tools?" or "Which platforms excel at tracking online mentions?". The goal is to use prompts where AI models are likely to list and compare specific products.

Reason 3: Your Brand Isn't Visible to AI Models Yet

Sometimes the prompts are well-constructed and AI models do recommend brands in their answers - but your brand simply isn't among them. If your brand doesn't appear in any responses, the dashboard will show dashes instead of position numbers.

This means your competitors are being recommended while your brand is not yet on the radar of AI models.

What to do: This is actually a valuable insight - it tells you exactly where you need to focus your efforts. We recommend two next steps:

  1. Read our guide on improving AI visibility at chatbeat.com/ai-seo-rank-in-chatgpt - it covers practical strategies for getting your brand mentioned in AI-generated answers.

  2. Check the GEO Playbook tab in your project's sidebar. It contains tailored recommendations to help improve your brand's presence across AI models.

Quick Diagnosis Checklist

If your project shows no data, work through these steps in order:

  1. Wait a few minutes - your project may still be loading.

  2. Check Explore AI Answers - are the models giving general answers without naming brands? If so, rephrase your prompts.

  3. Look for dashes in the position columns - if other brands appear but yours doesn't, it's time to work on your AI visibility using our guide and the GEO Playbook.

If none of the above resolves the issue, don't hesitate to contact us - we're happy to help.
